Whether you need your brand name on the message, or a shortcode will do the job for a fraction of the effort.

Most businesses starting out do not need a branded sender ID. A registered shortcode delivers reliably and lets recipients reply, which matters more than people expect for appointment reminders and customer service.
In some countries you can put any text in the sender field and it goes through. Malaysia is not one of them any more. After sustained regulatory pressure on scam messaging, operators here filter aggressively on unregistered alphanumeric senders — and the failure mode is silent. Your provider reports success, you are billed, and nothing arrives. If someone offers you an instant branded sender ID with no paperwork, that is what you are buying.
See why SMS is not delivered in Malaysia for the other causes that produce the same symptom.
Timelines and fees change often enough that publishing exact numbers would mislead you. Ask us and we will tell you what the current position is when you ask, rather than what it was when this page was written.
Worth registering: you send consistently high volume, your brand is the reason people open the message, or you are sending transactional messages where a spoofed sender would harm customers — banking-adjacent, delivery, ticketing.
Not worth it yet: you are testing whether SMS works for your business at all, your volume is under a few thousand a month, or recipients already know you from the message content. Start on a shortcode, prove the channel pays for itself, then register.
No registration, no waiting. Ask us about sender ID when your volume justifies it.
