Bulk SMS Malaysia —
straight answers

Including the parts most providers leave out until after you've paid.

Pricing & billing

How much does bulk SMS cost in Malaysia?

RM0.20 per SMS segment to any Malaysian network, with no setup fee, monthly fee or contract. A segment is 156 characters for English, or 65 characters if your message contains Chinese, Tamil or emoji.

Why does a Chinese SMS cost more than an English one?

Any non-Latin character forces the whole message into Unicode encoding, which fits only 65 characters per segment instead of 156. The same length of text therefore costs about twice as much. This is a GSM standard that applies to every provider, not a markup we invented.

Is there a minimum top-up or monthly commitment?

Neither. Top up any amount through WhatsApp and it is applied immediately. Credit never expires, so unused balance is not lost if you pause for a few months.

What happens if a message fails?

Anything that fails to submit is refunded to your balance automatically. You are never billed for messages that did not leave our system.

Sending & delivery

Do I need to register a sender ID?

Not to get started — messages go out over registered shortcodes and you can send within minutes of signing up. If you want recipients to see your own brand name as the sender, that requires separate registration with the Malaysian telcos, which takes time and carries a fee. Message us and we'll explain the current process.

How fast do messages arrive?

On direct telco routes messages usually reach handsets within seconds. Delivery can slow during peak periods, and delivery receipts sometimes lag behind actual arrival — it is normal to see a message land on the phone before the report updates.

Can the telco block my content?

Yes, and this is the single most important thing to understand before buying any bulk SMS in Malaysia. Operators run their own content filtering and can drop messages silently — no error, no refund from the telco, and delivery reports that still look green. This applies to every provider, not just us. Always run a small paid test to your own number before committing to a large campaign.

What content will you accept?

We look at each case rather than banning entire industries up front, and we will tell you honestly whether we think your content will clear operator filtering. What we will not do is take your money for a campaign we expect to be blocked. We also cannot accept content that is unlawful under Malaysian law, and we reserve the right to suspend accounts sending fraudulent or deceptive messages.

Compliance

Do I need consent before sending marketing SMS?

Yes. Under Malaysia's Personal Data Protection Act 2010 you need a lawful basis for processing recipients' personal data, and marketing messages should carry a clear way to opt out. Sending to purchased or scraped lists is how accounts get complaints, and complaints are how numbers get filtered.

How do I handle opt-outs?

Include an instruction such as "Reply STOP to opt out" and remove those numbers from your list. Keeping a suppression list is your responsibility, and it protects your delivery rates as much as it protects your recipients.

Who is responsible for what I send?

You are. We provide the delivery channel; the content, the recipient list and the consent behind it are yours. See our terms. See also why SMS is not delivered.

Account

How do I top up?

Message us on WhatsApp with your account email. We apply the credit manually, usually within minutes during working hours. We deliberately do not take card payments online.

Can I get a trial before paying?

Yes. Register, message us on WhatsApp, and we'll load free trial credit so you can send a real SMS to your own phone and confirm it arrives before spending anything.

Still have a question?
